Prototyping for Smart Start-ups
Prototyping, why do it? It’s an essential tool that is widely used in areas of innovation and entrepreneurship to convert ideas into tangible and profitable products. By creating a prototype we’re able to quickly and cost-effectively conduct usability tests, get feedback on our ideas, iterate on them and most importantly; understand if it actually solves a problem. A real problem. So, how do the experts do it? During this video, you will hear from three experts in three entirely different fields who have all used prototyping (or failed to use & regretted it). Gus, Marc & Shi will take you through different approaches to prototyping including: - Intrapreneurial and evidence based approaches - Pretotyping & proxies before you build your prototype - A lesson in constant refinement driven by your customer - As well as plenty of examples, tools and mistakes you can learn from for your own prototyping journey Enjoy!

Rapid Prototyping with AWS
In this session we will explore the role of rapid prototyping to accelerate business outcomes; diving deep on how to unlock the power of the prototyping model. Delivering outcomes in a day, a week, or a month is often challenging, so we'll explore how to define deliverables, arrange resources, run sprints, do Kanban, and produce outcomes. Hear about the AWS Rapid Innovation Prototyping methodology and other techniques to test and validate value early.

Kablamo - Bringing media metadata to life
Providing metadata and enhancements to live and achieved data is a critical extension for bringing old media to life while adding context to live assets. Leveraging the AWS AI/ML API's and libraries such as Amazon Rekognition, Amazon Transcribe, Amazon Comprehend, and Amazon Translate allow for creating rich metadata.

Datacom - Cutting code with API gateway validation
Migrating code from PHP web servers to Node.js Lambda. 50% of the PHP code was input validation. Input objects added to RestApi definition (CloudFormation). API Gateway takes care of validating objects (types and required objects). Only logic based validation code ported to Lambda simplifying code and reducing development effort. Once deployed we export Swagger without API Gateway extensions and upload to S3 for clients to consume (and view with Swagger-UI).

NIB - Pipelines should be managed as code !
Configuring Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) as code allows isolated testing of changes to build pipelines, regression testing by injecting variables, and the dynamic generation of pipelines. It even forms the basis for patching the Immutable infrastructure behind our app deployments!

How EuroLeague Basketball Uses IoT Analytics to Engage Fans
IoT and big data have made their way out of industrial applications, general automation, and consumer goods, and are now a valuable tool for improving consumer engagement across a number of industries, including media, entertainment, and sports. The low cost and ease of implementation of AWS analytics services and AWS IoT have allowed AGT, a leader in IoT, to develop their IoTA analytics platform. Using IoTA, AGT brought a tailored solution to EuroLeague Basketball for real-time content production and fan engagement during the 2017-18 season. In this session, we take a deep dive into how this solution is architected for secure, scalable, and highly performant data collection from athletes, coaches, and fans. We also talk about how the data is transformed into insights and integrated into a content generation pipeline. Lastly, we demonstrate how this solution can be easily adapted for other industries and applications.
Build an app that collects and processes sensor data to solve a particular user need, ranging from ordering fresh groceries or replacing printer cartridges to automating manufacturing plants and assembly lines. The app must use AWS IoT, Amazon Kinesis, or both to collect and process the data, then take actions in real-time.
Explore a real use cases of IoT Analytics using the Amazon Kinesis family of services. See a demo of IoT and Amazon Kinesis in action. Take a deep dive into underlying reference architectures and implementation.
This blog post explores the key aspects of cloud migrations and how AWS pricing tools and enterprise management services and the Stax platform can be combined to provide a powerful tool set for the forecasting, management and transparency of AWS costs at all stages of the cloud migration life cycle. This combination provides a holistic approach incorporating cost, compliance and quality lenses, all critical to developing, deploying and operating enterprise grade environments in AWS.
Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) is a web service that makes it easier to set up, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud. It provides cost-efficient, resizable capacity for an industry-standard relational database and manages common database administration tasks. Amazon RDS offers all the benefits of high availability, security, and scalability, while eliminating the need to manage infrastructure, upgrades and updates and the complexity of handling a highly available environment.
In this white paper, we help you understand how to deploy Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (version 9.2) using Amazon RDS for Oracle. Because this white paper focuses on the database components of the installation process, items such as JD Edwards EnterpriseOne application servers and application server node scaling will not be covered.
Using webpack with the Amazon Cognito Identity SDK for JavaScript
September 9th 2016
This blog post is aimed at developers of all experience levels who develop and deploy JavaScript based applications (whether server-side with Node.js or client side) that incorporate the AWS SDK, the Amazon Cognito Identity SDK for JavaScript and who also use the popular webpack module bundler.
Turning mobile app development on its head
February 24th 2014
Whilst we would all agree that mobile is the biggest game in town, I think there are very few CIOs who would argue that mobile app development is quick, easy or cost effective. The plethora of platforms, operating systems, screens, standards and implementations has turned mobile app development into an incredible pain point for most organisations. Even if they successfully create an app, it will likely join the other 70% of apps sitting idle [i] in one or more app store until the marketing department spends an addtional fortune promoting the app. Does this approach really make sense or is there a better way?
